A big shout out to a good friend of mine, who achieved a prized qualifying spot to Hawaii Ironman in this weekend's Buffalo Springs Lake 70.3 race! What an amazing accomplishment! Women like Amanda truly inspire me. Last year, she had set a goal for herself to make Ironman World Championship in Clearwater, FL, which she did. And this year, her goal was to make it to Hawaii --- and she did it! Just a few months ago, Amanda and I were chatting at the gym when a guy got introduced to Amanda as a fellow triathlete. He mentioned that he had completed Hawaii (via lottery) and asked her why she didn't go that route. After he walked away, she said to me "No way, I'm doing it the hard way". Way to go Girl, you gritted it out and did it the hard way!!
